The Poujastou Bed and Breakfast is located at the heart of Central Pyrenees, the best place for finding peace and enjoying the all range of mountain activities.

The House :

Le Poujastou is a Gîte de France 3 épis.

Chambres d’hôtes are located in a former 18th century inn.
The building looks out to the south, facing the Luchonnais mountains. It is quietly set at the heart of the old village of Juzet, less than 3 kms (1.9 mile) from Bagnères de Luchon.

Juzet is known for its listed cascade and the GR10 hiking trail, which runs across the village. It is the starting point of several hikes, like that which leads hikers to the ancient village that used to be the place of residence of St John's knights.

The rooms

There are five large rooms that have been done up with traditional materials, so that the house can host up to 15 people.

Painting and primer are whitewashed, the beds have been designed and made by a local carpenter, decoration has been done with traditional family artefacts.

Each room has its own bathroom (either shower or bath) and lavatory. Whether you stay on your own, with your spouse, your family or friends, Le Poujastou has a room that fits your needs –up to four beds can be set up.

For infants and youngsters, we can provide a travel cot, a small tub and a changing mattress, which leaves you to provide only a cot sheet and a gigoteuse.

Table d'hôtes :

With prior booking, Elodie, your host, will cook nice and tasty large meals. The food is simple and prepared with organic produce, either grown in the house’s vegetable garden or by local producers.

From aperitif to herb tea, you will eat and drink quality food : home-grown vegetables, fruit and meat from the valley, garden-grown herb tea and organic wine from the Lot area.

History

The great great grand parents of Elodie bought the house in the 1880s.

Like Elodie’s great grandfather, they used to be the village headmasters while also serving as city hall head of staff. Elodie’s mother was born and bred in the house, which eventually became the holiday house where all relatives used to convene.

Elodie’s grandfather, Robert, retired in Juzet and was elected mayor (which had already been the case when France was freed in 1945). Due to his experience, he became the driving force behind the revamping of the family house, which was turned into 3-star (“trois épis”) “chambres d’hôtes”.

Elodie and Thierry’s family have contributed their time and skills to revamping the house. This resulted in Le Poujastou’s official opening to the public in 1999.

The Living room

Le Poujastou offers you the peace and quiet of a genuine house. A fire in the friendly living room will be welcome company while you play a game or read a book.

The living room is the place where you will check the maps and books you will need for your hikes. Guide books are at your disposal to help you identify the plants and birds you have come across in the mountains.

In addition, you will find many books on the Pyrenean brown bear, the conservation of which we are committed to.

As for movie buffs, they will also find a large and varied home movie library.

The dining room

In the Pyrenean dining room, on the table of the old inn, you will relish a large breakfast, complete with home-made cakes and jams. In the evening, good food will delight you.
